Tesco and Nestlé support the care of the needy with HUF 15.5 million
Like Santa Claus, Nestlé and Tesco are preparing gifts on December 6. As a result of this year’s joint campaign, the two companies are supporting the work of the Hungarian Food Bank Association with HUF 15.5 million. As part of the charity campaign announced in the fall, Nestlé offered 1 percent of the value of the Nestlé products sold in Tesco stores between September 29 and October 12 for food purposes, and Tesco doubled the amount.

From the collected support, the Food Bank delivers 166,000 food packages to those in need
Nestlé and Tesco teamed up again this fall to support people with a difficult fate with the help of customers. During the charity campaign, Nestlé offered 1 percent of the price of Nestlé products (e.g. sweets, coffee, baby food, pet food, seasonings, sauces, soup powders) purchased in Tesco hypermarkets, and Tesco doubled the amount collected in this way, so a total of 15,500,000 they contributed HUF to feeding the needy. The donation will go to the Magyar Élelmiszerbank Egyesület, who will be able to deliver 166,000 food packages to the needy. These packages typically contain products that are close to their expiration date, have packaging defects, but are of high quality and perfectly suitable for human consumption, which the organization collects from stores and food manufacturers on a daily basis.
“We owe Tesco Hungary, Nestlé Hungary and, of course, their customers a million, even ten million thanks for not forgetting the needy people even in difficult times. Unfortunately, with the onset of cold weather, the needs of the needy have increased significantly, more and more people and families are asking for our food packages. The financial support received now provides a stable background for their care for the next period as well.”
said Balázs Cseh, president of the Food Bank.
