Tesco’s Clubcard program is undergoing significant changes due to legal proceedings
Tesco has made major changes to its Clubcard loyalty program after being embroiled in a legal dispute with Lidl, The Sun reports. At the heart of the case was the design of Clubcard’s promotional materials, which showed similarities with Lidl’s logo. After the court’s decision, Tesco changed the logo, which is now visible in the mobile application.
The new design is a square and rectangular motif that uses a yellow and blue color combination. The loyalty program continues to offer discounts on more than 8,000 products, with 8,000 offers per week.
The legal proceedings began in 2020, when Lidl filed a lawsuit against Tesco over the similar logo. The courts ruled in Lidl’s favor and Tesco undertook to update its logo. In addition, Tesco introduced unit prices on Clubcard price tags to make it easier for customers to compare prices.
