Media Council develops a recommendation for product placements
The new media law legalized product placement as a commercial communication. Since the beginning of the year, advertised products can legally appear in the programmes. The Media Council decided to create the recommendation, that will clarify the regulations together with the operators by early summer.
Although product placement in the genres of fiction was already present, the previous media rules did not regulate it. The previous practice, that tolerated the product placement at independent productions (eg movies), but at other genres (eg entertainment shows, sports coverage) not, did not comply with European advertising trends – reports tozsdeforum.hu
