This year, the Ukrainian grain harvest may be somewhat larger than last year
The Ukrainian agricultural consulting company APK-Inform has worsened its forecast for Ukraine’s grain harvest this year, but the amount will still modestly exceed last year. The organization calculates that this year’s grain harvest will be 53.4 million tons, falling short of the 54.2 million tons it estimated so far.
Last year’s harvest was 53 million tons, two years earlier it was around 80 million tons. APK-Inform has not changed the estimated amount of wheat that can be harvested this year, it still expects 21.5 million tons, but the corn harvest is expected to be 24.8 million tons, less than the 25.6 million tons expected so far. The amount of barley is roughly the same as last year, 5.7 million tons. According to APK-Inform’s forecast, Ukraine will export 34.7 million tons of grain in the season until the end of June 2024, of which, for example, 13 million will be wheat and 19 million will be corn.
