This year's corn crop in Zala is less than last year's
The yield per hectare of corn is more than one ton less this year in Zala county, than in the recent years – told Fentős János, Head of Department at the Agriculture Board of the Government Office of Zala County to MTI on Wednesday.
Corn harvest has been finished on the half of the 57,775-hectare area. In recent years, the yield per hectare in Zala County reached 6.5 to 7 tonnes, but this year, due to lack of rainfall, only an average of 5.4 tons per hectare yield has been realized. The water content of the plant is under 20 percent, which is relatively favorable – reports MTI.
