Farmers can expect favorable changes in the support conditions
Zsolt Feldman also spoke about the 2024 tender schedule, the favorable changes in the support conditions, and the adaptation strategies that can be followed in plant cultivation, which represent a response to the difficulties that have plagued agriculture in recent years, at the professional forum of the Bácska és Dunamelléki Mezőgazdasági Egyesület in Eger.
In his presentation, the Secretary of State for Agriculture and Rural Development indicated that from February 2024, within the framework of the KAP Strategy Plan until 2027, the tender announcement of new agricultural and rural development support with a frame amount of HUF 2,900 billion will begin. This year’s planned schedule was published by the Ministry of Agriculture. It is in everyone’s interest that farmers use this significant sum as efficiently as possible. That is why, for example, when evaluating tenders, special emphasis is placed on the support of those investments for which the existence of added value, cooperation with producers, or long-term supplier relationships can be proven. Zsolt Feldman mentioned that they are working on preparing separate investment calls for small and large enterprises so that small and large applicants do not have to compete with each other. In addition, the obligation to maintain base staff has been removed from the support conditions, which is also a significant help for farmers. The Ministry of Agriculture helps the winners of the tender with additional tools, they plan the accountability of interest costs related to investment loans or, for example, create the possibility of advance financing without collateral.
The state secretary also talked about the adaptation expected from farmers
As he said, due to the permanent changes in the market environment and the climate, it is no longer possible to produce in the same way as twenty or thirty years ago. In field crop production, improvement of efficiency, more conscious management of input materials, technological discipline, or even the use of less intensive cultivation technologies can represent progress. The differentiation of the production structure can also contribute to efficient management. In the traditional production structure, premium-quality, healthy cereals with special protein or fiber content can represent a stable point on the market. Cultivation of alternative field crops – sorghum, millet, oil-free, butterfly-flowered crops, soy, poppy, rye, triticale – can be an answer to the emerging problems.
