Farmers spent the most on soil conditioners and stubble decomposers in 2024
Of the observed crop enhancer categories, producers purchased the largest quantities of various composts and peats in 2024 (this is 54.5 percent of the total volume sold). In second place were other industrial and processing by-products, waste, organic and mineral fertilizers, which accounted for two-fifths of the total volume sold. Soil improvers and soil conditioners took third place, similarly to the previous year, with their share barely reaching 3 percent.
Based on the data received, in 2024, end users spent 15.7 billion forints on the purchase of biological crop enhancers. The group of composts and peats, which represents the largest volume sold, accounted for barely one-eighth of the total value in the period under review. Among the product categories sold, microbiological preparations containing bacteria and fungi had the smallest share in value (4 percent). One-fifth of total sales were made up of soil inoculation and stubble decomposition products, followed by other industrial and processing by-products, waste, organic and mineral fertilizers, which represented 18.4 percent. Plant conditioners and biostimulants, algae preparations and foliar fertilizers, and soil improvers and soil conditioning preparations had almost the same share, each around 14–15 percent.
