Soil preparation nears completion for autumn crops
According to the operational reports for the date of November 12, the planned area of autumn crops this year is 1.6 million hectares, with soil preparation completed on 98.6 percent of the area. According to the NAK survey, the planned area of spring crops is 1.5 million hectares, with soil preparation work at 32.9 percent, which is less favorable than last year.
The sowing of autumn cereals was planned on 1.5 million hectares, and sowing was completed on 100 percent of the planned area by November 12. The work completed for winter barley, winter wheat, durum wheat and triticale was fully completed compared to the plan. The sowing of autumn rye was planned on 37.8 thousand hectares, with the work completed at 99.9 percent by the date of the report. According to the NAK, the planned sowing area of winter wheat (excluding durum wheat) is 7.8 percent larger than last year, 994 thousand hectares, on which the work has been fully completed. The pace of sowing of cereals is proceeding in line with the previous year. Farmers planned to sow winter rapeseed on a larger area this season compared to the previous year, 153.1 thousand hectares, and the work had already been completed by November 12.
Sunflower harvest almost completely completed by November
99.8 percent of the sowing area was harvested, with 1.7 million tons of sunflower harvested from a total of 711.3 thousand hectares. The sunflower yield nationwide was around 2.4 tons/hectare. The lowest average yield was reported from Csongrád-Csanád County (1.6 t/ha), the highest from Baranya County (3.2 t/ha). The potato harvest was 100 percent on the day of the report, with an average yield of 24 tons/hectare, 11.7 percent less than in 2024. The variation between counties was very large, with the lowest average yield achieved by producers in Nógrád County (8 t/ha), and the highest in Komárom-Esztergom County (40 t/ha). The soybean harvest has been completed, the 2025 yield of the crop sown on 79.4 thousand hectares is 170.2 thousand tons, with an average yield of 2.1 tons/hectare, which is 4 percent lower than last year. 64.7 percent of the 11,500-hectare sugar beet production area was harvested by November 12, with a yield of around 51.1 tons per hectare, which is 8 percent less than the 2024 result.
According to the NAK survey, the domestic corn production area in 2025 was around 752.3 thousand hectares
Of this, 728.8 thousand hectares, 96.9 percent of the total area, were harvested by November 12. The average yield of 5.1 tons/hectare is 12.4 percent below that of 2024. So far, 3.7 million tons of corn have been harvested. Hybrid corn seeds were produced on 12.8 thousand hectares in 2025, and by November 12, the harvest was completed on 99.7 percent of the total area. The average yield was 3 tons/hectare, down about 13 percent compared to last year. The silage corn harvest has ended, with an average yield of 23.1 tons/hectare, 10.7 percent lower than the 2024 amount.

The average yield of sweet corn increased compared to last year, reaching around 14.1 tons/hectare. In terms of the national average, onion, tomato and spicy pepper producers achieved yields 2–7 percent higher than the previous year in 2025. The yield of green pepper decreased by 29.8 percent, and that of head cabbage decreased by 17.6 percent compared to 2024 data. The picking of autumn-harvested fruits was nearing its end on the day of the report. The average yield of apples, the fruit grown in the largest volume, was 8.2 tons/hectare, 45 percent below last year’s value. Pears yielded 6.8 tons per hectare, a yield that decreased by 8.7 percent compared to the previous year.
