St. Andrea Vineyard is the Winery of the Year in Hungary
Hungarian wineries work with faith, perseverance, and loyalty, keeping pace with changes in technology and consumer habits, and thanks to this, Hungarian wine has been able to further strengthen its reputation in the world – stated Imre Hubai, the State Secretary responsible for agriculture at the Ministry of Agriculture, at the presentation of the Winery of the Year award, which this year went to the St. Andrea Vineyard.

At the festive event, the State Secretary spoke about how the family at the St. Andrea winery is not only a background and support, but also a multi-generational success story. It is a rich source that is full of constructive energy, knowledge, and the will to do something. This invisible, yet lively ingredient has rightfully elevated Dr. György Lőrincz and the wines of the St. Andrea winery to the greatest on an international level. At the same time, it has further strengthened the centuries-old good reputation of the Eger wine region – he added. Hubai Imre highlighted – this year’s award, Winery of the Year in Hungary, is a clear recognition that success in Egerszalók is not just a momentary state, but the result of long-term and complex work. St. Andrea is one of the brightest stars in the Hungarian wine industry. Their winemaking philosophy focuses on site-centered winemaking, vineyard selection and high-quality (Superior, Grand Superior) blends.
The viticulture sector receives serious support
Hubai Imre highlighted – thanks to government subsidies, almost 28 million euros will be available in the Common Agricultural Policy Strategic Plan this year, and a total of nearly 112 million euros for the 2024-2027 period. Support for the restructuring and conversion of vineyards can be applied for in these very weeks. Applications can be submitted until August 15. The submission of investment subsidies has been scheduled for the post-harvest period – these requests will be submitted between November 15 and December 15, the state secretary added.
