The SPAR Regions Treasures program has reached a new milestone: the first shipments of SPAR’s own-brand Dubai chocolate ice cream have left for Croatia and Slovenia. The special ice cream is made by a small Hungarian company, Bocco Doro.

The Dubai chocolate-style ice cream was inspired by international trends, and the recipe was developed through long experimentation in cooperation between SPAR Hungary and Bocco Doro. As a result, an ice cream was created that recreates the original taste as faithfully as possible. The product combines the care of artisanal craftsmanship with professional production technology, thus representing a premium quality that distinguishes it from its competitors.

Bocco Doro ice creams first appeared in the SPAR Regions Treasures program in 2023. The rapid growth of customer interest soon necessitated expansion, and cooperation in product development also became increasingly close. Dubai chocolate ice cream was born in response to consumer demand, and after its domestic success, it can now prove itself on an international level. The special feature of the current export is that it is the first time that a Regions Treasures supplier’s product is being exported abroad. In addition to Croatia, the introduction will also begin in the Slovenian SPAR network. In Hungary, the product is already available in the SPAR national network.

“It is of utmost importance for SPAR Hungary to support the development and market access of domestic suppliers. The export of Dubai chocolate ice cream is not only another success in the history of the Treasures of the Regions program, but also an inspiration for other partners. This project proves that a creative, high-quality Hungarian product can also stand its ground in foreign markets,” emphasized Márk Maczelka, Head of Communications at SPAR Hungary.

The company has dynamically increased its export activities within the network in recent years, within the framework of which more than 3 thousand tons of private label products – including Mirelit goods, cheeses, jams, canned vegetables and plant-based foods – reached SPAR stores in Austria, Croatia and Slovenia from Hungary. The Regions’ Treasures program helps domestic partners reach a wider customer base in Hungary, which may even lead to export cooperation. The success of Dubai chocolate ice cream indicates that business opportunities are opening up increasingly widely for Hungarian small businesses.
