Smurfit Kappa Group and WestRock Corporation merge
“I am delighted to confirm that Smurfit Kappa will merge with WestRock to create a new company called Smurfit WestRock,” says Tony Smurfit, Group CEO. The new company’s manufacturing and commercial units will be present in more than 40 countries, with more than 100,000 employees and more than 700 operating operations.
“We all remain committed to serving our Customers as the global leader in sustainable packaging. The company will be headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, our North and South American operations will be based in Atlanta, Georgia, and our European operations will continue to be based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. According to plans, the company’s initial public offering will take place on the NYSE”
– stressed the CEO.
By merging the two business branches, they will be able to serve their partners at an even higher level than before through increased security of supply. In addition, they will be able to offer an even larger selection of products.
