A condition for a successful green energy transition is competitiveness
In a joint statement, the leaders of European industry warn that competitiveness is a condition for a successful green energy transition – the Hungarian Chemical Industry Association (MAVESZ) and the Mol group drew attention in a joint statement on Wednesday.
It was highlighted that 73 leaders from almost 20 industries handed over a joint statement to Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo and Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, following the industrial summit in Antwerp. The leading industry players agree that the green energy transition can be effective and successful if Europe’s competitiveness is preserved, which requires incentives and a legislative environment that supports industrial development.
They wrote that MAVESZ took an active part in the preparation of the Antwerp declaration, which also supports its content, and the Mol group joined the document as a signatory. The declaration outlines 10 specific measures, including the strategic integration of the EU industrial agreement, the rationalization of legislation and the simplification of the state aid framework. The signatories also call on decision-makers to help European industry to maintain its global competitiveness.
In the announcement, Csaba Szabó, director of MAVESZ, explained that it is of primary importance from the point of view of sustainability and economic development that the key industries – including the chemical industry – maintain and further increase their competitiveness. Everything must be done so that the leaders of the European Union realize that the leading industrial players must be seen as partners and not as a problem, since with their innovative solutions they are precisely the ones who can meaningfully advance the cause of the green energy transition.
