The secret of success is creativity…

…this is what the Superbrands award winners voted for in the impromptu mini-survey at the awards gala. What do Gmail, Skype, thefacebook, and the Superbrands programs have in common? They are all internationally recognized, well-known brand names. Additionally, they share the fact that all of them started in 2004. This was the year when Google introduced Gmail, the first Skype call was made, and thefacebook was launched. In the same year, Hungary’s leading brands were first evaluated by the international Superbrands Program, which has continued ever since. This year, Trade magazine received the prestigious award for the 9th time, along with several of its Partners.

The Superbrands Program employs a complex selection system to assess thousands of brands each year, identifying the outstanding performers to be awarded the Superbrands title in the consumer category and the Business Superbrands title in the business category. At its year-end gala, Hungarian Superbrands recognizes these brand successes with the presentation of glass trophies. In 2024, the Superbrands gala, one of Hungary’s most significant business award events, was held with over 150 participants.

What is the secret to success?

This question opened this year’s gala program. And who better to answer than the 2024 Superbrands Gala invited award winners themselves—company leaders, marketing and sales directors, and country managers representing super brands. Guests could choose words and phrases on a success measurement board to answer the question, “WHAT IS THE SECRET TO SUCCESS?”. The most votes went to creativity, identified as the secret to success by the 2024 Superbrands awardees. Second place went to seeking and overcoming new challenges, followed closely by value creation and contributing to others.

As the organizer of the Superbrands Hungary program, this year we focused on the question of professional success. Partly because I am personally very proud of Superbrands’ two decades of tradition in Hungary, and partly because this year marks the 20th publication of the success stories of awarded brands in book form. The Superbrands Great Book includes new storytellers this year, as well as brand stories showcasing remarkable professional achievements that have been unfolding for 20 years.

said Géza László, director of the Superbrands Program in Hungary.

“It fills us with immense pride that Trade magazine is now a nine-time Business Superbrands award winner. It is a fantastic feeling to stand on stage with many of our business partners, feeling grateful for our shared achievements, the support of the jury, the market’s appreciation, and above all, the persistent and loyal work of my colleagues.”

– said Zsuzsanna Hermann, Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of Trade magazine.

The message of the Superbrands awards

As no two success stories are alike, there are no identical Superbrands awards either. In 2024, the organizers commissioned glass artist Luca Kohut-Görömbei to create unique glass trophies. In the spirit of upcycling, the trophies were made by re-melting wine bottles from restaurants, a process showcased in a short film with the artist. The glass fragments, melted at 737 °C and prepared individually, evoke the aurora borealis—a natural phenomenon that beautifully symbolizes the extraordinary achievements of super brands.

About the Superbrands Hungary Program

The international Superbrands Program, now operating in over 90 countries, was established in 1995 by the British Brand Council. Its dual purpose was to spotlight outstanding brands and set exemplary models. Since its inception, the program has become renowned worldwide, with the Superbrands title now signifying a special distinction in nearly 90 countries.

In Hungary, the Superbrands award has represented the essence of all positive attributes associated with brands since 2004, indicating outstanding market recognition, popularity, and financial stability. Five years after its launch, the Hungarian Superbrands Program extended its certification to business brands with the introduction of the Business Superbrands award, recognizing the top-performing brands in the business-to-business (B2B) sector.

Superbrands is a widely recognized symbol of high quality, awarding consumer and business brands within the framework of the international program. The decision on the awards is made annually by a 40-member independent committee of marketing and corporate professionals after a multi-step pre-selection process.
