Samsung announced that its latest QLED TVs have received the “Real Quantum Dot Display” certification from Germany-based international certification body TÜV Rheinland. The certification confirms that Samsung’s QLED TVs meet international standards for quantum dot display structures, reinforcing the company’s technological leadership in the premium TV market.
The certification confirms that Samsung’s QLED TVs comply with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 62595-1-6 standard, which specifies the use of quantum dot (QD) light conversion units combined with blue light sources for standard QLED displays.
As part of the certification process, TÜV Rheinland analyzed the light spectrum emitted by Samsung’s QLED TVs and confirmed that it clearly distinguishes between red, green and blue, an important indicator of color accuracy. This clear separation is made possible by quantum dots – while displays made with alternative materials may not be as significant, and can sometimes cause color mixing or image sharpness degradation. The results demonstrate how Samsung’s use of quantum dots contributes to vivid and precise color reproduction.
Samsung’s QLED TVs are now officially certified as true quantum dot displays with this latest certification, further differentiating Samsung’s offerings and reinforcing consumers’ confidence in premium TV technology.
“This certification is a testament to Samsung’s ability to deliver a true quantum dot experience in line with international standards,” said Taeyong Son, Executive Vice President of Samsung’s Visual Display Business. “We continue to aim to deliver groundbreaking innovations and build consumer confidence while leading the premium TV market.”
The certification recognizes, among others, the company’s Neo QLED 8K (QN990F, QN950F), Neo QLED 4K (QN90F, QN85F, QN80F, QN70F) and QLED 4K (Q8F, Q7F, Q6F) series devices.
