ROSSMANN supports the circular economy and believes in prevention
Ecologically conscious consumers who would like to use ROSSMANN scrubs, shampoos or shower gels that don’t contain microplastics can now easily recognise them, thanks to the ‘NO Microplastics’ marking on their packaging. ROSSMAN has stopped using not only solid microplastics in their products: from now on the cosmetics products with the ‘NO Microplastics’ contain neither solid microplastics nor liquid synthetic polymers.
Sustainability is a priority for ROSSMANN. The company’s experts analyse every beauty product for microplastics content and check whether they can be substituted with alternative product components. Soon nearly 500 ISANA products will get the ROSSMANN ‘NO Microplastics’ marking; in the case of the Babydream ROSSMANN brand there will be 31 such products. Certified natural cosmetics are already free-from microplastics, for instance, many Nature-certified ROSSMANN Alterra products.

What are microplastics?
Microplastics are those solid plastic fragments that are smaller than 5mm, but 5-110 nanometre pieces of plastic that aren’t visible to the naked eye also belong to this category. Microplastics don’t decompose in nature, so living organisms can’t utilise them. These materials are important ingredients of various beauty products, for instance in creams these polymers provide flexibility and enhance the moisturising effect, while in roll-on deodorants microplastics ensure that the product is distributed evenly in the armpit. //
