The post office’s logistics network is prepared to handle the increasingly intense e-commerce parcel traffic
Magyar Posta expects an increase in package delivery based on the government decree effective from March 28, 2024, which stipulates that all online store operators must also provide the delivery method with the universal postal service provider.
Magyar Posta emphasized in its previous information about changes affecting webshops and their companies that the government decree still allows the consumer to freely choose a courier service, so it does not grant Magyar Posta exclusivity, i.e. the webshops’ freedom to enter into contracts is not impaired, they can agree on cooperation with any courier service. Magyar Posta informed MTI that its logistics business, the MPL segment, is stably the second largest market player in Hungary, taking second place in the parcel market in 2023 and 2022 based on the volume of online commercial items delivered domestically.
