PENNY reacts to the energy crisis
PENNY’s owner REWE Group has pledged to cut its CO2 emission by 30% until 2030, and to go full carbon neutral by 2040. Meanwhile in Hungary the discounter installed glass doors on refrigerators in more than 100 stores. Another 43 stores will follow until the end of the year, and then 24 more in 2023. This step will save 10% of PENNY stores’ total energy use.
Head of corporate communications Eszter Kazatsay told: they have already installed solar panels on 30 buildings and a logistics centre, which generate 20% of the stores’ energy use. //
