The producer price of paprika increased by 18-21 percent
According to KSH data, 84.07 thousand tons of peppers were harvested in Hungary from 1.35 thousand hectares in 2022. Hungary is a net exporter of green peppers.

According to KSH data, the export volume of green pepper increased to 18.62 thousand tons (+15 percent), and the export value increased to 29.52 million euros (+24 percent) in the first nine months of 2023 compared to the same period of the previous year. The volume of imports increased to 6.96 thousand tons (+8 percent), and the value to 10.67 million euros (+23 percent) at the same time. The foreign trade assets of green peppers rose to 18.8 million euros (+25 percent) from 10.6 million euros a year earlier. Exports to Germany, the largest export market for fresh green peppers, decreased by 6 percent to 9.25 thousand tons, while exports to Slovakia increased by 36 percent to 3.11 thousand tons and to the Czech Republic by 16 percent to 1.90 thousand tons in the observed period.
The price of paprika has risen quite a bit
According to the data of AKI PÁIR, domestically grown sweet peppers for stuffing are available all year round at the Budapest Wholesale Market: the producer price of smaller (30-70 mm) peppers in kilogram packages increased by 21 percent to HUF 733/kg, the larger (70 mm+) price increased by 18 percent to HUF 931/kilogram 2023 1–48. per week compared to the average price of the same period of the previous year. Sweet peppers for stuffing over 70 mm arrived from Spain and Morocco by the end of March. Towards the end of the year, from the 48th week, imported (Spanish) sweet peppers for stuffing appeared again in the offer at an average price of HUF 900/kilogram (+29 percent compared to a year earlier).
