Vocational training in the paper industry is promoted by Vajda-Papír for young people choosing a career
More than two thousand interested parents and students participated in the Dunaújváros Vocational Training Day in October, at which Vajda-Papír, the largest employer in the region, also offered a training alternative to those about to choose a career by promoting vocational training in the paper industry. To support their career choice, a factory visit was held for young people at the Vajda-Papír factory in Dunaföldvár.
Attila Vajda, the founding CEO of Hungary’s leading hygiene paper company, said that a new chapter in the company’s life opened in 2020. Vajda-Papír was the first in the country to receive dual training facility accreditation for the specialized training of paper manufacturing and processing, packaging material manufacturing technicians. He pointed out that their cooperation with the Dunaújváros Vocational Training Center is now three years old. “As a dual partner, our goal is that the hundreds of students in the vicinity, 7-8 let’s present the specialized training to as many of the students as possible, with which students can acquire competitive and marketable skills. That’s why every year we held an open day, similar to the schools, during which we guided the interested parties, their 7th and 8th grade students, the students’ parents and teachers through the most modern paper factory in Central Europe in small groups.
Attila Vajda reminded him that after a break of several decades, full-time vocational training in paper production and processing was restarted in Hungary in the 2021/2022 academic year in cooperation with the Ministry of Innovation and Technology (ITM), the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MKIK) and Vajda-Papír. The restart of the training was justified by the changed global consumption trends, the reduction of plastics, the increasingly significant contribution of the paper industry to the GDP and the significant expansion of the number of people employed in the sector, as well as the value of the investments directed there.
