After the summer geese, bird flu also appeared in domestic poultry
Just a few days after the confirmation of the first cases of wild birds, the laboratory of the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) also detected the presence of bird flu in domestic poultry flocks. The liquidation of the 25,000 duck duck population in Békés County is in progress. How serious the epidemic becomes depends to a significant extent on the discipline of the livestock keepers and the continuous and consistent compliance with the epidemic prevention regulations.
The H5N1 subtype of the bird flu virus was detected by the Nébih laboratory in Füzesgyarmat in Békés county. The decrease in feed and water consumption, nervous system symptoms and increased mortality in the duck colony, which has approximately 25,000 ducks, aroused suspicion among the livestock keepers.
The liquidation of the affected stock is in progress
The mallards of two other farms with an epidemiological connection to the colony are also killed. The authority designated a protection zone with a radius of 3 km and a surveillance (observation) zone with a radius of 10 km around the farm.
As the above case proves, the highly pathogenic avian influenza virus can reappear at any time
It is in the common interest of the sector, consumers and the authorities that the disease does not spread further. The discipline of livestock keepers greatly influences how serious the epidemic becomes. That is why Nébih continues to ask livestock keepers to consistently and strictly observe the epidemic prevention regulations.
