International tourism revenue was 1,700 billion USD last year
Last year, revenue from tourism increased significantly, by 4 percent, to 1,700 billion USD, and has grown for the seventh consecutive year to a greater extent than commodity exports (+3 percent).
According to the Madrid-based World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), global tourism revenue is 29 percent of global service exports, and 7 percent of exports of products and services.
Based on this, tourism is one of the five leading economic sectors in the world, ranks third after the chemical and oil industry, ahead of the food and automotive industries. (MTI)
