The German dioxin crisis is already yesterday’s news
The Agricultural Economics Research Institute (AKI) continuously monitors and publishes world trends in poultry and meat products. Their last report reveals that the European pig market is recovering after the dioxin crisis. At the end of February the production price of slaughter pig did not change in the European Union or Hungary. Last year the EU’s beef export grew to 2.5 times bigger if compared with the previous year; the biggest target market was still Russia (41 percent), followed by Turkey (23 percent). Broiler chicken was bought from breeders for 12 percent more in the first two months of the year, while its live-weight production price was up 14 percent.
