Nébih relies on the public’s opinion in the soil protection questionnaire
The soil protection effort of the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) is to present the population with the diversity of our country’s soils, soil cultivation and nutrient management habits, and draw attention to the importance of preserving soil health.
The office is also waiting for the public’s opinion: those interested can access the Nébih questionnaire until July 20. The results of the soil sample tests are now available in the National Soil Science Database. During the analysis of the laboratory results, we can also obtain useful information about the condition of the soils and the performance of their functions. With the right information, it is also possible to develop the appropriate use of a small home garden or even to achieve complex, professional farming. Using the data of the National Soil Database, Nébih would like to show the population how diverse Hungarian soils are, and what the soil cultivation and nutrient management habits are, thereby drawing attention to ways of preserving soil health. Among other things, the office plans to present topics such as the use of organic fertilization and composting, water and soil pollution resulting from excessive use of nutrients, or protection against erosion and inland water. However, the office also relies on the public’s opinion to determine the topics to be processed and the tools to be used.
