Halls chewing gums arrive in Hungary
Mondelēz International, the biggest snack manufacturer in the world, is putting Halls chewing gums on the Hungarian market. Our magazine interviewed Gábor Mayer, the managing director of Mondelēz Hungária Kft.
– Why have you decided to enter the market with Halls chewing gums now?
–The Polish launch in January was a success and I felt that Hungary was ready for Halls chewing gums too. 10 years ago we already introduced Trident to the Hungarian market, another global power brand of the company and it performed well.
– What is your optimism built on?
– First and foremost Halls is a global brand that is well known in Hungary too – Halls drops were manufactured in our Győr factory for a long time. Plus Mondelēz International is the second biggest chewing gum producer in the world and we are No.1 in Europe, with our Stimorol, V6, Trident and Hollywood products having big market share in many European countries.
– Why are Halls chewing gums special?
– A product can also be innovative in a seemingly simple category like this, too. Thanks to the mint granules inside the product, one chewing gum offers extra freshness up to 60 minutes.
– What kind of product selection do you enter the market with?
– Four flavours will hit the shops, two mint versions and two fruit variants. Halls melon and citrus chewing gums debuted with great success in the Polish market as well.
–Two Big 4 members, KPMG and PwC commented on the Polish launch that Mondelēz International is the only snack manufacturer that can bring a change to the market where the products of a competitor dominate. What do you expect from the Hungarian launch?
– I believe in the category and in the strength of our global power brand and innovation, and last but not least: I believe in the talent of my colleagues. I think our retailer partners would also be happy to see a new, fresh product in the chewing gum category.
– What will be the schedule of launching Halls chewing gums in Hungary?
– In the summer the products will turn up in the shops of modern trade, local modern trade and other retailer partners. Halls chewing gums will receive strong marketing support with a 360-degree campaign. Watch out, we are coming! (x)
