The sale of agricultural machinery decreased, while the turnover of spare parts increased
Individual farms and cooperatives bought HUF 226.5 billion worth of new agricultural machinery and equipment in the period January-September 2023, which was 16 percent less than the turnover of a year earlier. In the same period, HUF 67.5 billion were spent on parts, which is a 7 percent increase compared to the January-September 2022 period.
Agricultural producers spent 58 percent of the total value of their agricultural machinery investments in the first nine months of 2023, and 63 percent in the first half of 2023. Within the total sales, among the control machines, tractors represented 31 percent, and grain harvesters 15 percent.

In the January-September 2023 period, 1,263 less than in the base period, i.e. 1,757 new wheeled tractors worth HUF 69 billion, were updated from the well-known Western, Central-Eastern European and Far-Eastern brands. Among them, the category under 50 hp and 101–140 hp represented the largest share with 21 and 22 percent, respectively. The turnover of small and medium-powered tractors fell significantly, while the sales volume of tractors over 260 hp increased by 13 percent.
