42 percent of agricultural investments were spent on buildings and structures in 2024
According to preliminary data from the Central Statistical Office, the performance value of agricultural investments in 2024 was 669.4 billion forints.
Based on the data received from the 1237 agricultural investment report, the distribution of investments was as follows: 42 percent of the amount spent on agricultural investments was spent on buildings and structures, and 29 percent on machinery and vehicles by the data providers included in the observation in 2024.
The purchase of breeding animals accounted for 22 percent of investments
A significant proportion of building investments was spent on the development of animal husbandry technology. The designated enterprises used 36 percent of the value of building investments to build new cattle barns, pig and poultry sheds, which were put into operation in 2024. A significant amount was also spent on the development of crop dryers, silos, granaries, greenhouses, and cold storage facilities, and the amount spent on building renovation amounted to 26 percent in the period under review.
94 percent of the amount spent on investment was related to the core activity of the agricultural enterprises participating in the survey
Of this, a significant proportion was represented by the investments of agricultural enterprises in animal husbandry in 2024, followed by investments in crop production activities. Within animal husbandry activities, the designated data providers spent the largest proportion on construction investments (44 percent), the purchase of breeding and draft animals (38 percent), and the development of machinery (12 percent). The investments of agricultural enterprises related to crop production were mainly directed to the purchase of agricultural machinery (59 percent), and the construction and renovation of new buildings and structures (34 percent) in 2024, based on the data received.
