Metro, TESCO and Co-op have already realised…
Mistakes occurring in the supply chain are often the result of partners not communicating correct data to each other about the products. The retail chains mentioned above have already realised this and have taken the necessary steps. According to László Csorba, Metro Kereskedelmi Kft.’s supply chain manager a company survey pointed out that more than 50 percent of incorrect invoices are the result of inaccurate product data. The solution seemed evident to them, as their parent company had been using Global Data Synchronisation Network (GSDN) for years. They expect data this way from 30 percent of their suppliers in 2010. TESCO-Global Áruházak Zrt. started the necessary developments last year and IT director Károly Kővágó told that they expected significant data quality improvement. Istvánné Deé, Co-op Hungary Zrt.’s IT programme manager pointed out that after the end of the test period they would start establishing the system; preferably the majority of the data would be arriving through the GS1 Perfect data base soon. GDSN was launched in 2004 under the auspices of GS1. Today there are more than 22,000 users and the number of registered products is above 4,400,000 GS1 Magyarország developed GS1Perfect for Hungarian enterprises. Read more at www.gs1perfect.hu
