Size matters too
We look at large-bottle beers as some kind of marketing tool, but these special bottles have become an integral part of Belgian beer culture because the final fermentation of certain beers takes place in 0.75- or 1.5-litre bottles. These specialties are often bought at auctions and collectors spare them for years before they open a bottle for a special occasion. It depends on the manufacturer which brand is sold in large bottles – some of them come out in this version for holidays only. Belgaco distributes nearly 50 types of beer in large bottles.
