Declining bee populations threaten food supply
According to current statistics from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the volume of fruit and vegetable production dependent on pollinators has risen by 300 percent in the last 50 years, which is why the rapid decline of insect populations is worrying. Although wind-pollinated basic food sources such as rice, wheat, and corn are not affected, these insects are essential for the production of many healthy sources rich in minerals, vitamins, and other trace elements.
