Employing people with disabilities is a help for many companies
Four out of ten Hungarian companies have employees with disabilities, and the majority of employers reported positive experiences with joint work. In the vast majority of cases, the integration of the new colleague succeeded without any particular problems, only a small percentage of the companies reported negative experiences. To hire workers and facilitate their integration, only a few companies used foundation assistance, according to a recent representative survey by Profession.hu.
In recent years, the employment of people with altered work ability has become more and more favorable, but the data shows that companies still do not make adequate use of the opportunities provided by this labor market group.
Lack of experience can be a deterrent for both parties regarding the employment and employment of people with disabilities. Unexplored needs and questions may arise on both the employer’s and the employee’s side, which often make companies afraid to open up to people with disabilities, and the former are often afraid to enter the labor market. Employers who, on the other hand, employ disabled workers reported predominantly positive experiences: two-thirds of the surveyed companies employing disabled people spoke positively about joint work, 31 percent did not experience any difference compared to able-bodied employees, and only 1 percent of employers had a negative experience. – revealed from the research. In the case of companies that do not employ people with disabilities, this option was not mentioned in half of the cases, even though in the current labor market situation, the exploitation of the potential inherent in the labor market group is a particularly important factor.
