According to the managing director of MediaMark Hungary, the Temu webshop is tempting with a price advantage, but it cannot build stable customer loyalty in the long term
Gábor Szilágyi, the managing director of MediaMarkt Hungary, warned about the deceptiveness and long-term unsustainability of the price advantage of webshops like Temu, according to a Forbes report.
Szilágyi pointed out that although Temu’s rapidly growing presence can be felt in some segments of the market, he still prefers reliable dealers. The Temu webshop has gained a significant market share in Hungary in a short time, especially in the cheaper price segment. However, Szilágyi emphasized that the main profile of their company is still the distribution of higher value technical items, so although they are competitors, their profile is quite different.
According to the executive, it is difficult to maintain the aggressive marketing strategy and pricing that Temu currently represents in the long term. Rather, the omnichannel commercial model, i.e. multi-channel sales, can be an effective defense against the global e-commerce giants. In this way, MediaMarkt can strengthen its position both online and offline and ensure the long-term success of your business.
