Mastercard welcomes the government’s decision to require all merchants to use online cash registers to provide electronic payment to their customers from January 2021. The provision could pave the way for a deeper exploitation of the potential of the instant payment system, and contactless card payments could be further strengthened – the company told MTI on Friday.
“We believe that decisions like the current one represent a major step forward for all players in the Hungarian economy. Many consumers have been waiting for such a decision, as they will be able to choose between different payment methods,” said Eölyüs Endre, Director responsible for Mastercard Hungary and Slovenia.
