Martian soil may be good for growing rice
Martian soil may have all the essential nutrients needed for growing rice, which is one of the most important foods – planetary scientist Abhilash Ramachandran told at a conference on 13 March.

However, the plant may need a little help to survive amid perchlorate, a chemical that can be toxic to plants and has been detected on the surface of Mars. The scientist and his colleagues grew rice plants in Martian-like soil made from Mojave Desert basalt. //
