A quarter of Hungarians can not get enough meat
In Hungary, 26.5 percent of the population can be considered as qualitative hungry, which means that does not consume meat at least every second day – said Vajda László Head of Department of the Ministry of Rural Development (VM), at a press conference, held on the occasion of World Food Day on Friday in Budapest.
In Hungary, the quality starvation shows a decline, but still larger than in the countries of the other Visegrad countries, and exceeds the European Union’s average of 9.5 percent.
Therefore, in 2004 Hungary joined the EU aid programs, which is designed to reduce hunger. For this program, around 500 million euros are spend in the EU annually. Hungary contributes with 14-15 million euros (about 3.5 – 4 billion HUF) annually – reports MTI.
