27 percent of Hungarian bottled wineexport was supplied by Lidl last year
More than 20.5 million bottles of Hungarian wines were sold by Lidl Magyarország in 2018, more than half of which was exported to overseas markets, which is about 27 percent of total wine exports in Hungary – Lidl told MTI on Thursday.
The volume sold by the supermarket chain in 2018 was 35 percent higher than in the previous year.
The company’s export value of 4.6 billion HUF represents about 27 percent of the total domestic bottled wine export of 17 billion HUF.
It was announced that the increase in sales was almost the same on the domestic and European markets. Last year, about 9.5 million bottles of Hungarian wines were placed on the shelves of Hungarian supermarkets, and nearly 11 million bottles of wines were exported by Hungarian wineries to many European countries through the chain of stores.
