The Hungarian National Trade Association takes action against food inflation
Without the cooperation of food manufacturing and supplying companies, the retail sector cannot significantly influence inflationary trends, which is why they are rejecting the price increase initiatives currently announced by suppliers for several product groups in order to curb the rise in prices of products. They also intend to review the currently valid supplier prices and price levels, the Hungarian National Trade Association, which represents a significant proportion of Hungarian businesses engaged in retail activities, informed MTI on Thursday.
In its statement, the association stated that it fully agrees with and supports the government’s intention that every step must be taken to protect Hungarian families from food inflation.
Hungarian trade actors are ready to do everything they can to use their full scope and promote the establishment of the most favorable consumer price level for the population with permanently low prices and extremely broad promotions, they promised.
The association expressed confidence that, together with suppliers, thanks to broad cooperation, they can take effective steps to curb food price increases and thus significantly contribute to reducing food inflation.
