Hungarian-Israeli tourism ties are strong
Minister of National Economy Márton Nagy received Israeli Tourism Minister Chaim Kac in his office on Tuesday, a further step in strengthening Hungarian-Israeli tourism cooperation, the Ministry of National Economy (NGM) told MTI on Tuesday.
According to the statement, László Könnyid, CEO of the Hungarian Tourism Agency (MTÜ), also participated in the meeting. The main topic of the meeting was the further strengthening of Hungarian-Israeli tourism relations, the expansion of direct air connections and the sharing of good practices in the management of the tourism sector. The two ministers signed a letter of intent in order to boost bilateral tourism relations.
During the meeting, the National Tourism Data Service Center (NTDSC) was presented to the Israeli side.
The NTDSC, a Hungarian tourism innovation, allows for the viewing of anonymous traffic statistics of all Hungarian accommodations, catering units and tourist attractions, which enables real-time monitoring of the tourism market, supporting data-driven decision-making
– they wrote in the announcement.
It was announced that one of the main goals of the Israeli visit is to boost tourism from Hungary to Israel, for which purpose an information conference will be organized in Budapest on March 18 for Hungarian travel agencies.
Hungarian-Israeli tourism relations are strong, Israel was Budapest’s 6th largest sending market in 2024, and the 11th sending market nationwide. Last year, more than 215 thousand Israeli guests arrived in Hungary, who spent a total of 693 thousand nights in domestic accommodations.
The growing tourist interest in our country is indicated by the fact that the number of guests increased by 4 percent compared to 2023.
