Nébih has lifted a significant part of the bird flu restrictions in the Southern Great Plain counties
As of today, the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) has dissolved most of the supervision (observation) districts in the counties of Bács-Kiskun, Békés and Csongrád-Csanád. The introduction and resettlement of poultry can begin in the affected part of the country under strict conditions.

During the mandatory waiting period, there were no negative epidemiological events in the counties of Bács-Kiskun, Békés and Csongrád-Csanád in the areas under restrictions from November and December 2022, respectively. Thanks to this, Nébih abolished most of the supervision (observation) districts on January 19. In the affected area, there are only three surveillance (observation) areas with a radius of 10 km related to the eruptions of the last few weeks, as well as a limited area in Hajdú-Bihar County.
With the exception of the remaining restricted areas, resettlement and resettlement can begin under strict conditions
It is important, however, that this can only be done on the farms affected by the autumn epidemic if the animals are only transported from there to slaughterhouses for immediate slaughter. Each resettlement must be preceded by an on-site inspection by an official veterinarian with favorable results.
The placement of poultry – subject to strict compliance with the regulations set out in the settlement procedure – may only be permitted on a farm that
• located in an unofficial Ramsari site, and
• There are no other permanent wetlands or wetlands visited by wild birds within a 3 km radius.
Since the highly pathogenic bird flu virus is still present in the country, the epidemiological discipline cannot be relaxed despite the relaxations. Livestock farmers must do everything they can to protect their herds.
The mandatory tampon test before the technological movement of waterfowl is still in force throughout the country
A prerequisite for such deliveries is that a laboratory test with favorable results is available. At the same time, in the free areas of our country, sampling before transport to the slaughterhouse is not mandatory, and it is not necessary to examine wild game flocks (e.g. pheasants) before releasing them into the wild.
All information related to bird flu, including the interactive map and the list of restricted areas, is available on the Nébih bird flu website: https://portal.nebih.gov.hu/madarinfluenza.
