One of Lidl’s cheapest products is a real superfood
One of Lidl’s cheapest products, Meadow Fresh’s reduced-fat hummus, costs just 69 pence (~326 forints) and according to a nutritionist, it can play a significant role in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, reported GloucestershireLive, which was edited by Pénzcentrum .
Jenna Hope, an expert at Women’s Health magazine, pointed out that hummus is not only cheap, but also has many health benefits, especially in terms of protecting the heart.
Hummus is rich in plant-based proteins and healthy fats that help lower blood pressure and cholesterol. The tahini and chickpeas in it contain a significant amount of iron, which is essential for transporting oxygen and maintaining energy. According to a 2006 study, regular consumption of chickpeas can lower cholesterol levels by up to 4.6%, thereby reducing the risk of heart disease.
Similar hummus is also available in Hungary in Lidl stores, where a 200-gram package of Chef Select costs HUF 559, making it a cheap and healthy choice for everyday use.
