Lidl strengthens its international commitment to conscious nutrition with WWF
Lidl is further strengthening its commitment to conscious nutrition by aligning its product range even more closely with the Planetary Health Diet (PHD)[1] by 2050. By 2030, Lidl will increase the proportion of plant-based foods sold in its product range, such as plant-based protein sources, whole grains, fruit and vegetables, by 20% compared to 2023. Lidl is the first retailer to make all food categories in its product range transparent in all 31 countries where it has stores, using the WWF methodology. Lidl is thus helping its customers make more environmentally conscious and healthier choices.
To address global challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss and diet-related diseases, we need to transform our food system[2]. Recognizing these pressing issues and its responsibility, Lidl is contributing to the transformation of the global food system by setting ambitious goals across its entire value chain. Customers will retain the freedom to choose products, but will be able to make more sustainable purchasing decisions more easily. To this end, Lidl, with the support of WWF’s expertise, is further strengthening its commitment to the goals of the Conscious Nutrition strategy in all 31 countries where it has stores. Lidl is expanding its current measures for plant-based proteins and setting ambitious goals in all three health-promoting categories of the Planetary Healthy Diet (PHD)[3].
Conscious nutrition as a driver for health and nature protection
