Hungary’s biggest wine exporter
Lidl Hungary has organised the Lidl Wine Expo Hungary for the sixth time. The event’s goal is to promote Hungarian wines in Europe and facilitate their market entry. In 2018 Lidl sold 20.5 million bottles of wine and 57 percent more went to export than in 2017; by 2019 the company became Hungary’s biggest wine exporter. At the expo’s opening ceremony Levente Magyar, deputy minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade told: the government appreciates Lidl’s efforts in taking Hungarian products to foreign markets.
The representatives of European Lidl countries had the chance at the expo to taste 350 Hungarian wines from 21 wine regions. Zoltán Nepp, Lidl Hungary’s head of procurement told that the Wine Expo offers the same opportunities to small family wineries and large wine companies for entering foreign markets. //
