NNGYK is looking for the most popular catering professionals
The National Center for Public Health and Pharmacy (NNGYK) has announced a competition for institutions and companies providing public catering to find the most popular professionals in Hungary – the NNGYK informed MTI.
The competition is looking for “the most excellent kitchen lady/kitchen boy, chef, food manager and dietician” in the categories of children’s catering, elderly catering and hospital catering, the announcement says.
The application can be submitted between October 6 and 19, 2025, and the candidates will be selected after an open vote: “Hungary’s most popular catering professionals”
– they added.
They recalled that the mandatory nutrition and health regulation for public catering was introduced in Hungary ten years ago, which is also mentioned as good practice by the World Health Organization (WHO) and international professional forums.
The regulation was included in the European Commission It is also included in the collection of good practices launched by the Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety.
The NNGYK celebrates the anniversary of the entry into force of the regulation by announcing the tender – they highlighted.
They emphasized that the NNGYK is continuously working to improve the quality of public catering and the perception of canteens.
In addition to playing a leading role in the creation of the regulation, it supported decision-making with national surveys, participates in child nutrition research, implemented a complex pilot program to improve school catering, and holds training courses for catering managers, publishes professional guides, develops public catering food procurement within the framework of an international project, operates working groups, and also promotes public catering through tenders – they listed.
The institution announced its tender with the support of the professional organizations cooperating in the public catering working group (National Food Chain Safety Office, National Association of Caterers and Food Managers, National Association of Food Managers, National Association of Tourism and Hospitality Employers, National Association of Hungarian Dietitians) and the Hungarian Hospital Association.
