60 percent of the corn was harvested in Zala county
More than 60 percent of the corn was harvested in the county of Zala, the average yield per hectare in the 15,500-hectare area was 8.9 tons, the county president of the National Chamber of Agriculture (NAK) told MTI.
This year’s harvest is of better quality than average, fusarium or any other kind of fungal disease was experienced in negligible quantities – Krisztián Sabján indicated. He added: a survey was conducted in September about storage capacity problems, and based on the feedback, this affected few farmers.
The harvesting of sunflowers produced on nearly 8,000 hectares and soybeans on 7,000 hectares was completed at the beginning of autumn
On average, 2.89 tons of oilseeds and 2.75 tons of soybeans were produced per hectare – explained the county president. He also touched on the fact that autumn sowing was delayed due to the rainy weather. 80 percent of the winter wheat – the planned sowing area of which is almost 21,000 hectares – was sown. According to the sowing intention, autumn barley is produced on 4.4 thousand hectares, so far the seed has been planted on 3.5 thousand hectares.
Cabbage-rape was sown on 9,650 hectares
The rains hamper field work, but at the same time they have a positive effect on the emerging and developing plants. The flocks are developing properly, and the fields sown at the end of October are also “greening up”, said Krisztián Sabján.
