Quality is the basis of competitiveness. This is what makes the investment in the Voivodeship wine laboratory truly valuable, said István Nagy, Minister of Agriculture, on Saturday, at the handover ceremony of LaBor in Zenta.

István Nagy highlighted that the plan, named after Ferenc Schams, was launched with the aim of making Hungarian wine regions flourish again. “So that we do not leave all the wealth that lies in the soil, vines, human expertise and diligence of the Carpathian Basin lying fallow.” It is in our common interest that our historical wine regions shine in their former glory again and produce quality wines that provide a livelihood for farmers and pride for all Hungarians. Our efforts and fruitful cooperation have reached another milestone today, said István Nagy, who pointed out that from now on a laboratory will also be helping winemakers in Zenta. The Minister emphasized that the representation of producers’ interests based on political cooperation, which is implemented by the Vojvodina Agricultural Associations Association, is exemplary in the Carpathian Basin.

The viticultural and winemaking heritage, which goes back many centuries, is an integral part of our national culture

This makes the investment in the Vojvodina laboratory truly valuable, and everyone benefits from its beneficial effects: Vojvodina winemakers and consumers alike, said the Minister, who also spoke about the Hungarian-Serbian Cultural Season to be held in 2025-2026, which will provide a good opportunity to introduce local wines. With the support of the Hungarian government, we have already successfully launched several investments in the Carpathian Basin – István Nagy reminded. He added that the first phase of the revitalization of the wine region belonging to the Archdiocese of Gyulafehérvár has been completed, where the equipment park was renewed with the support provided by the Ministry of Agriculture, while the House of Wines in Párkány opened its doors in the Upper Hungary. The Minister of Agriculture pointed out that well-equipped wine laboratories, which were also established with the support of the Hungarian government, are already operating in Partium and Transylvania.
