The producer price of light and heavy lamb also increased
According to KSH data, the volume of Hungary’s live lamb exports decreased by 1 percent (to 8,000 tons), while its value increased by 22 percent (to HUF 14 billion) in January-September 2023 compared to the same period of the previous year. The volume of live lamb imports decreased by 81 percent (36 tons) in the first nine months of 2023 compared to the volume of the previous year. Most of the live sheep came from France.

According to the data of AKI PÁIR, the producer price of light and heavy lamb in Hungary increased in January-November 2023 compared to the average price of the same months of 2022: the average price of light lamb was HUF 1,551/kilogram (+4 percent), that of heavy lamb was HUF 1,441/kilogram (+3 percent) was According to data from the European Commission, the price of light lamb in the European Union was 6.1 percent higher in the first forty-eight weeks of 2023 compared to the same period of the previous year. The price of heavy lamb rose by 2.4 percent.
