Koelnmesse has had a successful year and looks confidently towards 2025
Despite the challenges, Koelnmesse closed 2024 with strong financial results and is entering the 2025 business year with confidence. The Cologne-based trade fair company recorded sales of around 365 million euros and a profit of 20 million euros, which confirms its market stability. The company welcomed more than 2.1 million visitors from 197 countries and provided 34,500 exhibitors from 106 countries with an opportunity to present themselves. Koelnmesse thus further strengthened its global position in the exhibition market.
Sustainable development and international expansion
The company made outstanding strides in sustainable development and international market expansion in 2024. The Confex conference and exhibition center, which can accommodate 6,200 people and sets new standards in the industry with its modern technology, was opened. The company has also set itself the goal of becoming completely climate neutral by 2030. To this end, more than 20,000 square meters of solar panels have been installed on the roofs of the exhibition halls and the transition to a geothermal heating system has begun, which will supply the trade fair center with energy from 2028.
International expansion has also yielded spectacular results: Koelnmesse launched eight new international trade fairs in 2024 and is already planning nine more events for 2025. The gamescom latam exhibition debuted in São Paulo and attracted more than 100,000 visitors, making it the most visited foreign Koelnmesse event ever.
Further growth expected in 2025
The following year also promises strong growth. The Anuga food trade fair is already sold out, and major trade fairs such as FSB, aquanale, IDS and INTERZUM have significantly exceeded the registration figures for the same period last year. However, due to budget constraints, some exhibitors are planning to have smaller stands, which requires flexible planning from the organizers.
In the furniture industry, Koelnmesse has introduced a new strategy: from 2025, idd cologne will be held every two years as a premium segment trade fair, while imm cologne will be held annually as a business-focused event.
