Chocolate may be a luxury item, due to the climate change
The price of chocolate rises, and even it may become a luxury item again, due to climate change – states the authors of a study.
The authors analysed the future of the cocoa fields of Ghana, that gives more than half the world's cocoa production and found that if until 2050, average temperature really increases by 2.3 degrees Celsius the current production area may be reduced by half.
The cocoa and chocolate prices at the same time are already rising as in emerging countries such as China demand is rapidly growing – reports MTI.
