Elek Nagy, President of MKIK, discussed the use of artificial intelligence by SMEs with László Palkovics, Government Commissioner
This morning, Elek Nagy, President of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MKIK), and László Palkovics, Government Commissioner for Artificial Intelligence, held a discussion on the possibilities of the domestic application and development of artificial intelligence (AI).
The meeting was attended by László György, Government Commissioner for Professional Contribution to Economic Strategy Tasks and Coordination of the Teach for Hungary Program, and Ádám Balog, Vice President of the MKIK.
At the meeting, Elek Nagy emphasized that knowledge-based economic development is crucial for the future of Hungary, and the application of AI plays a prominent role in this. He pointed out that while the former is a long-term program, the latter, using AI, can achieve significant efficiency gains in businesses in the short term, according to international research, but at the same time there may be significant risks if the use of AI is not coupled with appropriate education and mentoring. At the same time, if the rapid implementation of AI is successful, it will strengthen the ability of Hungarian enterprises to achieve higher added value and to integrate into value chains.
László Palkovics presented the draft of the government’s renewed AI strategy, which aims to put Hungary at the forefront of technological development. He highlighted the need for simplified, “boxed” AI solutions for Hungarian SMEs, and the important goal of bringing large technology companies to Hungary. Regarding the latter, he stressed the need to conclude agreements with them that encourage them to primarily use the knowledge of the Hungarian SME sector, where it is available.
Both parties agreed that the introduction and application of AI is essential to increase the competitiveness of domestic enterprises. They set a common goal of launching AI-related training and information campaigns so that enterprises can learn about and apply new technologies as widely as possible.
