The small breweries enrich selection
The small breweries in Hungary enrich the domestic supply of the beer market, with producing beer specialties. Their production is 0.2 percent of the total annual Hungarian beer production – told Vaskó György, President of the Association of Small Breweries to MTI.
In Hungary, about 50 small scale breweries are operating. The Association of Small Breweries represent about three quarters of them.
Small breweries are beer producing plants, that produce an amount of beer that is under 20 thousand hectoliters per year. Usually the mostly family-owned small scale breweries in Hungary produce usually a daily 500 to 2,500 liters of beer.
The president of the association could not estimate the total revenues of the companies, however, he told that these companies paid about 100-110 million HUF excise tax into the treasury in 2010. The ratio of the excise tax – in order to help the small businesses – was reduced to half by the government last year. (MTI)
