Night of placements
An interesting night event was held by the Hungarian section of POPAI in Interspar Eurocenter, on 2. June. The event served as a training exercise for experts of POS promotional tools. The event is accessible for POPAI members only and is named “Master course”. Participants are presented a new topic and perspective each month. The special feature of the event is that various participants are able to share their specific knowledge and contribute to creative and collective thinking. The underlying objective is to help participants in boosting their revenues. The 25 member team under the leadership of Tamás Barathy from Spar had the objective of creating 3 special and extraordinary placements on this occasion. Students from the trade marketing seminar of Corvinus University – trained by Trade Marketing Klub and POPAI jointly – also participated in the activities. Following greetings by Tímea Pesti, chairperson of POPAI, participants were assigned their tasks. Bernadett Berkics, store manager guided the team around the largest Interspar store, which generates annual sales of HUF 7,5 billion. One of the tasks was to create an attractive installation for Bertolli, which would represent all elements of an authentic Italian style dinner. The second task focused on fish, which offered opportunity to use the idea of summer grill parties. Regarding the most important conclusions, everybody agreed with Tamás Barathy that merchandising and cross-merchandising tools are needed to further enhance modern retail techniques. Tímea Pesti thanked Interspar on behalf of POPAI for organising such an eventful and useful program. The patience and professionalism of the store staff made a major contribution to the success of the event. Measuring and analysing the results is the task of Nielsen (also a POPAI member) employees. Results will be discussed at the Business Days Conference 2008.
